In the Pines

On my drive from Portland to Seattle, I turned on the radio to Nirvana's cover of the traditional folk song 'In the Pines'.
My late teens - how I loved Nirvana and Kurt. I'd never connected all that mention of Washington and Seattle from the various articles and books I read around that time, with the love and fascination I've had for the Pacific Northwest in recent years.
What a magical, fresh, spooky and glorious place.

miss lara,

I am in those parts now, looking onto the cascades from west seattle - mountains are shrouded by clouds and maybe rain anytime? kind of gray. it is w/its own beauty.

I see hammerheads and cans - like my pedro harbor town but so much less... however still neat. there must be longshoreman to work that stuff.

my fortyeighth gig in fortynine days tonight... for el may, the third opera tonight...

on bass, watt
